Text Box: In 2005, the New Immigrant Help Network began with over 90 students registered in the two semesters of ESL and computer classes. The new immigrants were from all over the world including refugees from Sudan, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Republic of Congo, learned basic English language from volunteered teachers who in most cases were familiar with their native languages. Some students participated in excursions with their teachers. They were taken to the malls and shown how to shop, how to use public transportation and where to look for accommodations. Refreshments were provided at the end of each class. Childcare was provided during ESL classes.

Students registered in Computer classes received basic keyboarding training and they also familiarized themselves with the computer hardware. Students who registered in the intermediate computer classes were taught the basic parts of computers, and they learned how to boot a computer system, basic operating systems and file managements. They improved their skills in keyboarding, and they further studied Excel spread sheet, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power point.

Students were assisted in preparing resumes to help them find employment.  Some interviews have resulted in the joy of connecting people with satisfying work at rewarding wages.
